William "Bill" Salmons
February 7, 1932 - February 25, 2020

 

Bill Salmons has passed into eternity.

William (Bill) Salmons, 88 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away on February 25, 2020.

The world has lost a very special man. He always had a smile and a helping hand for anyone that needed it.

Bill was born at home in Manahawkin, NJ. As a child he later lived in Lakehurst, NJ and witnessed the destruction of the Hindenburg. He served in the US Army Airborne Engineers with 2 tours in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He raced stock cars (#33 and #333) during the 1960s at Wall Stadium and other tracks. Through his lifetime he worked as an arborist, heavy equipment mechanic and operating engineer in the paving industry. He was also recognized for his many volunteer endeavors. He was active in preserving the traditions and history of the area. Bill was also an excellent singer and worked with several country and bluegrass bands including a long running stint as bass player and singer for Home Cookin’.

Bill was predeceased by his mother Mabel Grone and sister Janice Gordon. He is survived by his loving wife Linda (nee Danforth) of Little Egg Harbor ,NJ, his cherished children daughter Deborah Ross (Ellis) of Bonifay, FL , son Wayne Salmons (Ellen) of Beachwood, NJ., son Bill Salmons, of Eugene, OR, beloved stepdaughter Jennifer Rouse, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, “adopted” children Jamie and Anna Bryant of South Toms River, NJ, sister Morgan Ruzzo, San Francisco, CA, grandchildren Beau Ross, Bill Salmons, Eric Salmons, Callie Salmons, Matthew Salmons, sisters-in-law Billea Nelson, Audrey Danforth, Sharron Marabito, great grandchildren, nephews, cousins, many friends and his extended music family He is also survived by the Falkinberg family, his recently discovered relatives from the other side of the blanket.

Services will be private.
